6a02 bbq (29th dec)

it's the first time i organise a bbq. the planning didnt go smoothly. there were times i felt frustrated. sudden unexpected changes. i have learnt a lot of this experience. it 1st started with contacting the pri sch classmates. the bbq was changed from 27/28 to 26 and then to 29. i had sent out a lot of msges to everyone and was so paiseh to keep texting them. haha. the good thing was almost all replied me. thankyou. i started browsing through the BBQ wholesale website to cater the bbq stuff. came up with a list of items that we will be ordering. but could only managed to contact amelia on sat. it was too late. we couldnt place any order. when amelia texted me at 2am on sat, i was at a loss. man. what am i going to do. there was no choice but to go supermarket and buy everything ourselves. so me and amelia would be doing the shopping. had msged the rest who were coming for to bbq to help out, but only chunying could make it.

left house at 11.45am to meet chunying and amelia. but last minute amelia called me and told me she couldnt come. so i met with with chunying and we ordered satay in chongpang. it cost 50cents per stick. it could have been cheaper. then we went to gaint at sembawang shopping centre. realised that the things were relatively more expensive. so we walked to sunplaza and bought everything needed for bbq besides raw food and the drinks. walked back to michael's house. came out with him to gaint and bought the remaining things. rested for a while at his house before i walked back to yishun to collect the satay and cooked food i ordered few days ago. bbq started at about 6+. the classmates came. bbq-ed the food, ate, talked, watched tv... we also played some orientation games (what, who, huh? and watermelon). hahaha. most of ppl left at 11+pm. the remaining 7 stayed overnight at michael's house. we played wii. yeah. very fun. we played cards too. 4 left in the early morning at about 6am. then me, michael and minyang fell asleep. hahaha. the 3 of us didnt sleep the entire night. slept all the way to around 12noon. went for lunch at sembawang shopping centre. i ordered bachor mee. the queue was long. thought that it would be nice. but it was the opposite. the meat was still raw. i'll never ever eat from that stall again. took bus back home. bathed and then went out again to the post office to pay the tv licence. came home. slept.

i'm glad the bbq turned out well. special thanks to michael for letting us hold the bbq at his place, chunying for helping out with the purchase of bbq things, zhenchao (marshmellow master) for helping to start the fire and bbq-ing the food. and also not fogetting the rest. benjamin, shumin, peipei, minyang, tricia, mingsheng, tammy, suwi, amelia, jean and angeline. thanks for coming.

two botaks

life's getting busier. was out the whole day yesterday. met up with the badminton people in the afternoon. we went to decoders cafe at newton. play board games. goldminer, taboo... celebrated jaslyn's and jenna's birthday though they were like some time back. hahaha. it was really nice to see them again. xinghua didnt turn up as he was down with fever. rest well! went to waffletown and sat there for a while before weeyang, meigui, wilson and me left.

wilson and me then travelled to woodlands. michael had invited us to his house. a post christmas/early new year party/celebration? man. i havent really talk to micahel for such a long time. i last saw him on the yck platform, but didnt have to chance to talk. he boarded the train and i alighted. went to causeway point to get him smth before heading to his house. quite a number of people came. khairul didnt come. he's mia. haha. if not the fantastic four will be back together. hahaha. inside joke. talked and updated things we missed out. still the same old michael. yeah. left at about 11 and went back home.

out again this morning to meet lejun and bernard. i overslept. luckily bernard will be late too. hahaha. so we pushed back 30mins. took 980 to beach road. lejun went to the army market and bought many many things. bernard bought 2 black tapes only. haha. on our way there, the both of them were telling me about their interesting experience in tekong. hehe. ate at the golden mile complex and wandered around bugis. took 980 back. bernard went home. me and lejun went to northpoint. he printed some photos (to lejun: thanks man!). met my brother there and we 3 went to chongpang. lejun wanted to laminate the photos and buy specs hook. walked home with my brother.

today is christmas eve. lejun and bernard are back. but i didnt manage to see them. one went to see gf. the other went to see doctor. to the one who went to see gf, have fun and hope to see you soon! to the one who went to see doctor, take care and rest well! and see you soon too. hopefully i'll get to meet up with them tmr. i'm lazy to blog le. hoho. here's a video for you. job interview

yesterday was 冬至, winter solstice festival. i had tangyuan, both the ready made ones and those we made ourselves. at night, it was soccer match + beer. hahaha. i drank a bit only. sadly, singapore lost. sent my resume to some companies before i slept.

i woke up late this morning. soon, my phone rang. unknown number. to my surprise, it was a lady asking me to go for the job interview tmr. woo. i didnt expect such a fast response. i sent my resume yesterday night and in less than 12h, they contacted me. tmr morning have to go to paya lebar. i'm so excited now. man. i want this job! give it to me leh. haha.

today is saturday. went running twice this week. was quite happy with myself. managed to run in and out of the park connector without stopping. tiring but fun. previously always run in, rest for a while then walk out. 'distributed' my resume to many companies. but none replied. why like that. i even sent it to the zoo. hahaha. i want a job leh.

attended christine's bday party at aranda country club in pasir ris on thursday. me and jj reached at around 4. i think we were the first to reach. put our bags at the chalet and then went to rent bicycles. cycled around pasir ris park, from one end to another. went into the mangrove swamp. it's my 1st time going into it. had heard stories about it. if we were to go at night, it would be super scary. there's no light in it. went around to find the red house. but cannot find leh. so we cycled to aloha loyang. tricked the vending machine and bought 2 bottled drinks for $2 instead of $3. it should have been $1.50 for 2. rmbed yr have chalet there too. so we called him and just nice he reached too. so we 3 continued cycling. followed the park connector and cycled all the way to changi beach. before arriving at the beach, we went up to old changi hospital. while we were at the entrance, one angmoh suddenly appeared and went up the flight of stairs into the hospital. wondered if he was a human or a ghost. we left our bicycle below and went up the stairs too. but didnt went into the rooms or what. haha. a lot of mosquitoes. took some photos and then headed to changi beach. stayed there a while then returned to pasir ris. back at the chalet, we ate and then sat around until 10+ before going home. we had fun. let's go cycling again soon.

went to changi again yesterday night for dinner. and bernard finally called me. haha. he sounded a bit tired, but overall still ok. i feel very tired today. very bored. there's nothing much to do. cui ah.

ronald's concert

i attended my cousin's band concert this evening. it was a christmas concert. my 3rd time watching my dearest cousin (ronald) performing. 1st was some time ago at woodgrove sec. 2nd was last year at rp. and this is the 3rd time. the pieces they performed were all related to Christmas. the conductor was CPT Muhamad Yusri B. Md. Ali. i like the conductor. this concert, like the previous one last year, was engaging. these are the only two concerts which i find special. there is no emcee. plus the conductor will directly interact with the audience. this year's concert was a bit different from last year's. there was participation from the audience to conduct one of the pieces and also to sing. the conductor himself sang too. he sang very well. how i wish i can sing like him too. a great performance.

went mos burger to have dinner with ronald. walked around causeway point. and right now i'm at his house, blogging. haha. yeahyeah. previously had always pangseh my cousin because of schoolwork and the busy schedule. now can finally meet up with him, catch up and update on things we missed out. haha. yeah. Chirstmas is coming soon! HOHOHO.

just now i couldnt find this entry anywhere on my blog. turned out it was on the class blog. -.- haha. have been quite busy for the past few days. it's no longer just the study room. we rearranged pieces of furniture in the living room too. was looking through my journal i wrote when i was in primary 6 and laughing at the stuff i wrote. started looking for a job too. sent bernard and lejun off to tekong on thursday together with bernard's parents and jiajun. didnt manage to see them cut botak. hahaha. they will be able to book out on christmas eve. dont know if they are doing fine right now in tekong ma. none of them has contacted me.

empty room

yesterday was the standard chartered singapore marathon 2008. participant 22753 finished the 42.195km marathon. woo. biaoge is super zai man. haha. i should have signed up for it too. then can experience the long torturous run. maybe not a run, but a challenge. a challenge which requires perserverance, determination and endurance. not only will you experience the satisfaction and happiness derived from finishing the marathon, you will also get to wear the 'finisher of 42.195km' t-shirt. plus you get a medal too! hahaha. maybe next year i'll be one of the 50000 runners. probably just half-marathon for a start. new t-shirt for me. finisher of 2.195km. hahaha. watched a show called 'udon' at night. quite a nice show.

woke up at 6+ this morning because the weather was too cold. 天气已转凉了. do take care of yourselves and dont fall sick. packed the study room. or rather soon to be my sister's room. threw away quite a lot of things which i kept. my sec 3, 4 maths worksheets, notebooks... i hate throwing away things. how nice if i could keep everything like how museums preserve the old stuff. moved almost all that was left from the study room to biaobiaoyuanyuan's bedroom. although it is a bit cramped now, but i like the feeling. hahaha. now this study room is empty with just the computer. and when you talk, there's echo. hehe. one day is just not enough. i have to continue packing and moving the things tmr. went out for dinner in the evening with family. then to northpoint to buy phones. the 2 2years contracts with m1 were over. we changed to starhub. unlimited sms. sister signed a new contract too. nokia6220 (5mp!) for mother and sony ericsson w595 for sister. both of them finally got their 1st phone. as for me and biaobiao, still army phones. yeah. came home for a while before going out again. previously it's always father send biaobiao back to camp. but today i decided to tag along. just to sit in the car and listen to some nice songs which the radio station is playing. mother and sister followed too. supper after that.

things i have to do: find a job, look for a new computer table and buy a bag for my sister. sign up for driving course?

crazy night (clementi to bugis)

5dec:
stayed home to pack my room. played basketball in the late afternoon. felt so tired. havent been playing for quite some time. went out for wedding dinner in the evening. it's at Rasa Sentosa Resort. besides having door gifts, everyone got a bottle of yakun kaya. saw many of my cousins too. we took many photos. everyone was happy. we should had taken more photos when we were younger. so that we can look back at the good times in the future. my granddad was extremely happy today. it's the 1st time i see him so happy. i was wondering if he's drunk or what. he had said smth which was from the bottom of his heart. smth which he did not do. smth which he regretted. i felt a bit emo at that moment. i'm sure the rest felt it too. but still, everyone laughed through the night. and drank. including me. hahaha. reached yishun at 11+pm and went to safra to meet lejun, bernard, aloysius and angelin. they were playing pool.

6dec:
left safra. took a cab and sent bernard home. lejun and i continued to clementi to send angelin to her uncle's house. this was when the fun started. me and lejun alighted at clementi too. and we started walking. aimlessly. it was around 2am. while walking, we talked. really talked. and i understood. i'm glad we let everything out. stopped at 7-11 and bought drinks. we went past several mrt stations like commonwealth and queenstown. took a short 15mins break at a bus-stop before we continued walking. we reached the city area. 1st building we saw was furama riverfront. we were quite excited. siao. zihigh. went past chinatown area. raffles place and city hall. not knowing which way to go, we asked for direction. this was when we had a target. a destination. bugis. wandered around and took several photos. wanted to take with the merlion, but lejun's phone died. haha. went past esplanade and just kept going. finally reached bugis. it was about 6+. there are more vehicles on the road. the sky became brighter. took 980 from bugis street home. walked home from lejun's house. woo. are we 神 or what. walked from clementi to bugis. hahaha. thanks for accompanying me through the morning. thankyou. i dont know if i did the right thing. no matter what, hope you are doing fine. 开心最重要.

woo. the taiwan trip entry is finally up. took a long time to blog. started typing and uploading photos since the 2nd. but i couldnt finish. went out that night to meet bernard and lejun for supper. ended up playing pool 1st. haha. aloysius came later. took cab to sembawang for prata and teh tarik. woo. ate. talked. sent bernard and aloysius home. me and ljun then slowly walked back from aloysius's house. hahaha. so fun to walk at night.

continued blogging on wed morning. left house and met bernard in the afternoon. lejun came to without telling me. it was meant to be a surprise. but he's late. -.- hahaha. and he forgot to bring along the ticket for prom. the guys waited for him at yck while he went back to look for it. came back without the ticket because he couldnt find it. reached the hotel soon and everyone started preparing for the dinner. the food was not bad. i brought camera. it was in my bag, which was in the room which we booked. i forgot to bring it out. -.- but still, we took some photos.

went back to the hotel after dinner and slacked. played cards. went walkwalk around orchard road while jiajun and yunrui. jiajun was telling us aobut his vietnam trip. i want to go to vietnam too! haha. slept. woke up at 6+ and went walkwalk again. with bernard and lejun. packed our stuff and took cab home. bathed. slept.

woke up in the late afternoon to continue blogging. went out for dinner just now. came home and finished up the last bit of the taiwan trip entry. woo. i feel much better right now. with the very packed period over. time for me to slowly pack my room. it's in a mess right now. hehe.

i am finally back. so tired. haha. taiwan trip was awesome. fun. shiok.

day1(25/11):
i woke up at 0430. left house at 0515. reached airport at about 0600. this was the first time i'm boarding a plane. was super excited.my sister had the window seat. i was sitting next to her. but still, i could see what's outside. the flight was about 4h+. watched dark knight. reached taiwan taoyuan international airport. met our tourguide, mr 蒋(jiang). he asked us to call him xiaojiang. a humorous man. he was saying that taiwan has 4 seasons while singapore has only two kinds of weather, hot and very hot. the 1st place we went to was 九份(jiufen). ate some of the food xiaojiang reccomended and went shopping. proceeded to 台中(Taichung). the ride was about 2h+ with a toilet break in between at 新竹(Hsinchu) if i'm not wrong. the expressway in taiwan looks almost the same as that in singapore. common vehicles. toyota, honda, nissan, mazda, lexus, bmw... buying a car in taiwan is much much cheaper. probably about 2 or 3 times cheaper. something different about the vehicles is that the driver seat is on the left. the direction of the road network is also a bit different. see diagram below. went to 逢甲夜市 (fengjia nightmarket) in 台中. the place was quite crowded. a lot of teenagers around. they have those kinds of stylomilo hair style. hahaha. ate some snacks like 大肠包小肠 (small intestine wrapped in big intestine). the small intestine refers to sausage while the big intestine refers to. eh. i also dont know la. it's edible la. hehe. headed to deBAO business hotel. watched cartoon before sleeping. some funny character in a show said '快乐的时光总是一下子就过去了'. very true.

day2:
set off to 阿里山 (ali mountain?) to see 阿里山的姑娘. hahaha. no la. just kidding. on the way, mr tourguide talked about earthquakes. evacuate to a field when there's no building. he mentioned about protecting one's head is the most important. since there are a lot of motorcylists in taiwan, they can wear helmet when earthquake strikes. those sleeping can use pillow. if no time to evacuate, go to the corner of the room. never stay in the middle of the room. the corner is the most stable part of the building. someone asked what if the ground split open when we are in the field. xiaojiang replied: 双眼开开，准备投胎. the trip up the 阿里山 was quite long. on the way, i felt rather threatened. it's because of the fallen bamboos which are sticking out. i wondered if they would pierce through the bus if they were to slide down suddenly. we reached the top and had lunch 1st. the weather is super cold. it was drizzling. took a walk in the forest before we boarded the bus and travelled to 高雄 (kaohsiung). went to 爱河 (love river). took some photo there. had dinner at some restaurant before going to the hotel. metropolitan hotel. as it was still early, we went out to the street and walkwalk. ate. went back to sleep. ZzZzZz.

day3:
a windy day. headed towards south. 台南 (tainan). went to 鹅銮鼻(oluanpi) to see the lighthouse. southernmost tip of taiwan. nothing much to do there except taking photos. oh. and we went to the wrong toilet. didnt see the male toilet behind. saw the female one, but didnt see the female sign. so we all thought it's unisex. hahahaha. after visiting the lighthouse, we went to 海洋公园 or smth like that. i have no idea what it's called. it's like underwater world. there were many people there. mostly kids from some primary school. so noisy. haha. (to bernard and lejun), i took a photo of a chiobu. her name is iva. you can refer to the picture below. hahaha. went to 饶河夜市 in the evening for dinner. ate ate this, ate ate that. ate so many things. shopping at dream mall (梦时代购物中心) at night. largest shopping mall in taiwan. there is a Ferris wheel on level 10. rode it with my family. aiya. if only yongbiao was here with us man. gathered and then went back to the hotel. packed our stuff as we are leaving for another hotel tmr. our luggage are getting heavier and heavier. xiaojiang talk about staying healthy today. he tried burning a piece of potato chip on the bus. the flame just kept on burning. i think he did this to show that the potato chip contained a lot of fats. 健康最重要.

day4:
we brought along 大包小包 up to the bus. pieces of luggage on the lower deck while we sat on the upper deck. we were on our way to 龙虎塔 (Dragon and Tiger Pagodas) in 高雄. there is a tiger and a dragon. -.- lol. stayed there for a while before we headed to 佛光山 (Fo Guang Shan). many golden statues. there was a ceremony going on. monks and nuns were in the temple chanting. left and had lunch at a foodcourt-like place. ordered charsiew wanton mee. it tasted different from that in singapore. the charsiew has been fried. after the meal, we went to Janfusun Fancyworld, an amusement park. 1st ride i sat is diving machine G5. woo. if you have no idea what it is, you can click here to know more.

the ride was really scary. especially when you were stuck at the edge, preparing for the 89° downward chionging. haha. i screamed. but i couldnt hear myself. woo. i thought i was going to die. haha. best ride i ever had. just once and it's enough. hahaha. wanted to try the turbo shot aka space shot, but in the end i didnt. to me, it's worse than the G5. your feet would be dangling in the air. somemore one is brought to a much higher point than the G5. woo. later i die how. hahaha. went for some other rides. my sis and another kid wanted to ride the viking ship. so we sat. we rode the 海神号several times. fun afternoon at the theme park. travelled to 台中 (taichung) for dinner. steamboat at shabu shabu. ate until shuang. woowoo. stayed at plazza international hotel. there's a grand piano in front of the reception counter. watched mr bean and also 七剑 (seven swords).

day5:
today's breakfast was not very nice. the variety of food was limited. went to a tomato farm. so many different kinds of tomato. taiwanese black beauty tomato. european bulb tomato... tomato mantou, tomato juice. everything is about tomato. visited the 石门水库 (Shimen Dam). xiaojiang said there's a 外库(裤) and a 内库(裤). he also mentioned a 三角库(裤) because of the triangular shape. everyone laughed. although there was sun, the weather was rather cold, especially when the wind blows. ate lunch at a restaurant and then took bullet train from 桃园 (taoyuan) to 台北 (taipei). went to mao's house. famous for their lingzhi and honey products. royal jelly. they cost a lot. up to $700+. there are also two princesses of the tribe in the shop. visited 国立故宫博物院 (national palace museum). cannot take any photo there. to view some of the collections, do visit the webpage of NPM. it was a bit boring. haha. visited the 士林官邸菊展 (2008 cShow, an annual event held in the garden of the Shilin Presidential Residence), but it was quite dark already. so xiaojiang agreed that we go there tmr morning again to take nice nice photos. on the bus, xiaojiang talked about children and many other stuff. someone mentioned: 金不笑，银不笑，小孩让你哈哈笑. haha. interesting. spent our night at 士林夜市 (shilin night market). ate and shopped. some of the things there were cheaper than in singapore. but the night market was super crowded. 人山人海. 进退两难. back to hotel. sheraton hotel. other kids came over to my room. we played uno. had a really fun time. it's around this time when the kids began to interact with one another. xiaojiang told us his life story today. the darkest period in his life. depression. suicide thoughts. i think i had learnt a lot from this trip. from the tourguide. he should go be a gp teacher. haha.

day6:
went to 貔貅馆. had a mini lecture there about fengshui. hahaha. amazing fact: if you are in the northern hemisphere and you flush toilet bowl, the movement of water will be in clockwise direction. if you are in the southern hemisphere, the movement would be in anti clockwise direction. i didnt know that. it's not so good to have your name (not including your surname) to have 16, 10, 20, 30 (ending with 0) strokes. for example, 陈小明. 小 has 3 strokes. 明 has 8 strokes. add together is 11 strokes. there's no 16, or anything ending with 0. the master also mentioned some not so good characters (all 10 strokes). 疾病，匪徒，鬼，衰... the best is the have 4, 9 or 13 strokes. after the lecture, went back to the garden to see flower, mainly chrysanthemum. visited a tea shop and tasted the different kind of tea. green tea + yakult tasted nice. had lunch at 鼎泰丰. the fried rice is extremely delicious. i will eat it again someday man. we then made our way to taipei101. on the previous night while playing with the kids, i said beijing101 instead of taipei101. -.- so malu. hahaha. didnt get to go up the level 101. just walked around the shopping mall only. then we went to some open space. i have no idea what place it is. just took some photos. there are also several groups of cheerleader there practising. went to some 西门丁 place to shop. but we just wandered around and sat at a cafe to talk. haha. gathered some time later and went to 蒙古烤肉 bar.b.q. sounded nice. but the food there wasnt nice at all. a bit disappointed. at night, we travelled to spring city resort. they got private jacuzzi in the room. there's also a public hotspring outside. cool. but i didnt go. the water got some weird smell which i dont like. haha. the kids and the 2 mj guys came over. we played uno. and ended up playing 'pig'. i had the chance the teach them. hahaha. we had fun. they left at around 2330. i went to bathe and then watch tv. there was this pool trickshot competition. i watched until i 傻 diao. uber cool. slept at around 2. tea appreciation lecture?

day7:
last day. didnt have to wake up very early. slept until 8+. had breakfast and went back to the room to pack my stuff. slacked around and continued watching tv. watched 赌侠II dont know what shanghai stephen chow and also nine ball competition on the sports channel. left hotel. bidded to the tourguide and checked in. ate at some cafe together with the rest. everyone seemed to be addicted to the game 'pig'. we even took out the uno cards and played 'pig' in the cafe. the adults watched us play. waited for some time before boarding the plane. home sweet home.


i had gained a lot from this trip. the tour guide taught me things which i never knew. it wasnt all about eating and shopping. although much time have been spent on the bus travelling from one place to another and it was like 上车睡觉，下车尿尿, i still enjoy the journey very much. beautiful sceneries which you will never get to see in singapore. i'm so tempted to go overseas again. probably with friends the next time if i had the chance. yeahyeah.
